>>> Family Fun Ride <<< 14 miles. Rockmart to the Brushy Mountain Tunnel. Built entirely on a former railroad bed. A gradual climb to the tunnel with grades of about 3%. Returning to Rockmart is downhill most of the way. Head east on the Silver Comet Trail. Take a break at the tunnel. Then return to the trailhead and come join in the festivities in downtown Rockmart.

>>> A More Challenging Ride <<< 27 miles. Rockmart to Cedartown and back. Built mostly on a former railroad bed. Some of the terrain is steep and challenging. Take your time and enjoy the beauty of the Silver Comet Trail. After a break at the Cedartown Welcome Center return to the Rockmart Trailhead and join the WELSHfest activities.

FYI AND DIRECTIONS

Rest Stops and SAG

There will be a rest stop and porta johns at Coots Lake. The Cedartown Welcome Center will be open and has water and facilities available.

SAG vehicles manned by GRITS Volunteers will be on both routes.

Food Vouchers for registered riders.
Registered riders will receive a food voucher for up to $5.00 at WELSHfest vendors.

DIRECTIONS

Rockmart is located near the intersection of Highway 278 and state route 101. The start of the ride is at the Rockmart Trailhead on downtown Rockmart at 100 Water Street, Rockmart, GA 30153.

Celebrates the pioneers that came from Wales to work in the slate quarries in Polk County, GA. Many of their descendants are the founding families of Rockmart and Van Wert.

GRITS Volunteer Trail Rangers support the maintenance and beautification of the Silver Comet Trails in picturesque Polk County, GA. We encourage the use of the Trail for recreation, enjoyment, fitness and health for all. We are also partners with others seeking to create trails in their communities and linking to the Silver Comet Trail.
